A man approached a schoolgirl and threatened her outside an Oxford primary school shortly before 9am this morning.
The man, described as black and around 20 years old, went up to the 11-year-old outside Larkrise Primary School, Boundary Brook Road, and tried to talk to her.
As she did not know him, she walked away, at which point he took her arm and threatened her.
Another child saw what was happening and when the man saw it he walked off.
Det Sgt Russell Simpson said: "We are unsure what the man's motives were or what he was attempting to do, but there is a chance he was trying to abduct this girl.
"This is obviously of great concern and we need to find this man and question him."
He was wearing a grey, hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms.
Anyone with information, or who sees a man acting suspiciously outside another school, is asked to contact Det Sgt Simpson on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
