Comedian John Bishop and actor Sir Ian McKellen partied the night away in an Oxford pub.

John Bishop was starring in the theatre production ‘Mother Goose’ with Sir Ian McKellen and to celebrate the show’s 100th performance they both decided to head to The Jolly Farmers pub afterwards.

The stars were later joined in the pub by Kate Bush who is best known for her hit single and the soundtrack to Netflix drama Stranger Things ‘Running Up That Hill’.

‘Mother Goose’ is a panto written by the Coronation Street writer Jonathan Harvey and the performance has received plenty of attention since Sir McKellen was given a part.

The Jolly Farmers is on 20 Paradise Street and is one of the most prominent LGBTQ+ pubs in Oxford.

Sir McKellen is best known for his part as Gandalf in The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings and has also featured in a diverse set of roles, including Shakespeare’s Richard III and Magneto in the X-Men films.

Mr Bishop is known for his popular ‘The John Bishop Show’ and for playing Dan Lewis in Doctor Who from 2021 to 2022.

Posting on a Facebook, a staff member at The Jolly Farmers pub said: “The astonishingly wonderful Sir Ian McKellen and the amazing John Bishop spent the evening with us celebrating the 100th performance of Mother Goose.

“Oh, and just to make things truly crazy, the legend that is Kate Bush popped in to see him and have a few drinks.

“This little pub is truly something special.”
