The relationship between Tory leader David Cameron and shadow home secretary David Davis is under the spotlight as it was announced the latter is to resign as an MP.
Mr Davis spearheaded the Conservatives' failed bid to defeat Government plans for 42-day detention without charge for terror suspects.
The Howden and Haltemprice MP is widely seen as one of the shadow cabinet's most effective operators, and came runner up to David Cameron for the party leadership in 2005.
Mr Davis has seen off a succession of Labour home secretaries but rumours about a poor relationship with Witney MP Mr Cameron persisted.
More to follow.
