More snow is expected to fall tomorrow and motorists should take care with icy roads.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice on Thursday, March 9.

Travel delays are to be expected and some bus and train services are likely to be cancelled.

Thursday’s morning will start off with rain showers and temperatures are likely to remain at around 2C and rising to a maximum of 10C at 3pm in the afternoon.

There is a small chance snow will fall, although sleet showers are more likely.

The BBC’s Weather forecast has predicted there will be brief intervals of sunshine between 11am and 2pm and then more rain showers are expected.

The Met Office has warned some rural communities may be temporarily cut off and power cuts could occur.

Untreated pavements and cycle paths could also become impassable.

RAC Breakdown spokesperson Rod Dennis said: “Even a little snow on the roads has the potential to make them treacherous for drivers, so we’re advising everyone to proceed extremely cautiously over the next few days.

“Being gentle on the accelerator and brake is vital to lessen the chances of skidding.

“It’s also essential drivers go out prepared for the conditions by packing warm clothes and blankets, food and drink and a portable battery charger so their mobiles don’t let them down even if their vehicles do.

 “Anyone who isn’t confident with winter driving might want to postpone their journeys until temperatures increase.”
