A WOMAN who was driving a car when it collided with loose horse on the A40 has suffered serious head injuries.
The accident took place on the A40 outside Sturt Farm, between Burford and the Asthall Barrow roundabout, shortly before midnight yesterday.
Firefighters cut the woman driver free from the car and she was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
Claire Gourlay, a spokesman for Oxford Police, said: "The woman is now in a serious but stable condition.
"Four horses got loose from a nearby field and one of them died in the accident."
