Hugo Brunner, former Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, is calling for Oxford to open a proper tourist information centre, after it closed for good during the pandemic.
As spring approaches, visitors are beginning to come to Oxford again.
They will find no place of welcome here, somewhere to learn what they might like to do and see in the city and county.
Why do we, unlike for example Tiverton (population 20,000), no longer have a tourist information centre?

Its absence is a disservice to our struggling visitor attractions and a signal to tourists, on whom our pubs, cafes and shops depend, that they are not wanted here.
