Sir - I am afraid that I must disagree with Bob Spray (Letters, June 6). For customers at Hinksey Pool, it was unacceptable to have to queue in high temperatures when the pool was at certain times less than half full.
It was also unacceptable that leisure service managers did not have plans in place to deal with the staffing shortfalls.
Hinksey Pool has been operating for many years and risk managment procedures are designed to ensure that crises of this type can be handled with minimum disruption to the paying public. Warm weather is not unusual in May! I would want to reassure our customers that I am working with the service managers to ensure that procedures are in place that will prevent any re-occurrence of the very serious incidents which took place on May 9-11.
Bob Timbs, City executive board member for leisure and sport
