Parents are being urged to have their say on a brand new facility for their kids which is being earmarked for the city.

Developer Ox Place will hold a community consultation at Bertie Park recreation ground where residents can share their ideas for new play equipment.

The developer - which is in partnership with the council - aims to build 31 affordable homes on the recreation ground - with 22 of these set for social renting and nine to be sold for shared ownership.

OX Place will submit the planning application within the next six months and if permission is granted work could start on the new homes in late 2023.

A new public play area and multi-use games area would then be created to replace the existing equipment as part of Ox Place's contributions to the community.

Managing director of OX Place Helen Horne said: “OX Place aims to build the right homes for Oxford and we always welcome feedback to help shape our plans.

“And who is better to tell us what play facilities they want to see as part of our proposed development for Bertie Place than the children and teenagers who’ll use them?”

The drop-in session will take place between 1pm and 3pm on Friday 17 February and posters with QR codes will be put up in the recreation ground so the consultation can continue until 24 February.

Paper copies of the surveys will be available from South Oxford Community Centre on Like Street between 9am and 12pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The survey results will feed into the planning application.

To increase turnout from parents with children, OX Place has sent out leaflets to homes in the area with details of the drop-in session.
