Hats off to the campaigners, who fought to save Peers Sports Centre at Littlemore, Oxford.
Their determination has paid off, with the centre set to be given a £375,000 cash injection and a reprieve until 2010.
It seems the building, said to be crumbling and in need of urgent repair, requires only minor work.
Would it have been saved had protesters not kicked up such a fuss? We doubt it.
