Templars Square shopping centre in Oxford, is hosting a Mini car display to celebrate the Mini and the city’s heritage in the automotive industry.

Until Saturday, February 18, 10 Minis will be on display in the shopping centre.

The exhibition includes a 1963 Morris Mini which has always lived in Oxfordshire, Mini Pick-up, Mini van,1968 Mk2 Cooper, 1963 Wolseley Hornet, 1996 Mini Cooper, Mini 1275GT, 1990 Mini Flame, Mini Pick-up and a 2000 Mini Cooper Sport.

There is also a 2001 Mini Cooper, one of the first modern Minis to have been produced in Oxford.

The display of Minis has been organised by local resident and Cowley car enthusiast Tanya Field.

Ms Field said: “I’m delighted to be back in Templars Square Shopping Centre with a small but wide-ranging display of Minis.

“Minis are iconic and have a special place in the hearts of many people, especially the communities which surround the Mini factory.”

Paul Jackson, centre manager at Templar Square Shopping Centre, added: “Since opening our doors in 1965 we’ve welcomed thousands of Cowley plant workers.

“The automotive industry is an important part of our heritage and we are delighted to bring the Minis to the forefront of the community.

“We hope shoppers enjoy this exclusive slice of car history.”

The exhibition is free to attend.

Members of public are invited to take photographs and learn about Cowley-built cars.
