Traders at Oxford's Covered Market have welcomed a £6.8m masterplan to give the historic attraction a boost.
The city council, landlords of the market, announced the investment earlier today.
The project includes the entrances in High Street and Market Street being transformed, larger seating areas inside, and a new space outside in a new pedestrian-friendly Market Street.

The regeneration will respect the unique character, heritage and history of the Covered Market, which first opened fully in 1774.
Public toilets at the Market Street entrance will be moved and two shop units will be removed to help create the public space.
Magnus Joye at Pizza by Sartorelli's said: "A new look will encourage more people to come in.
"It's exciting that the market is trying to improve its communal areas as it continues to develop as a food market."

Oliver Mason, who runs Gulp Fiction bookshop, said: "I personally think this will be very beneficial to the city of Oxford.
"As a new trader it is exciting to be part of this new momentum lifting the market forward - if there are problems along the way they will be sorted out."
Graham MacDonald, who runs iScream gelateria and Wicked Chocolate, said the investment was a boost for the market.
He added: "In the past, the market has suffered from a lack of amenity space.
"The back of the market will become the front."
Ben Cook of Blue Blood Sports said:"It's a lot of money - I think the market is going to look fantastic.
"This is really good for the market and it will make it more visible to shoppers."
Not all traders are in favour of the plans.
A member of staff at Oxford Cheese Company said they were opposed to the plans as they may be forced to move.
