Shoppers are disgusted with the state of a car park attached to Sainsbury’s, and are also calling for the lifts to be fixed.

But mystery surrounds who is responsible for the state of the facility in Bicester

Both Sainsbury's and the council have not confirmed the ownership of the car park when asked by this newspaper.

The Pioneer Square car park - which has provoked plenty of discussion among people - is located less than a five minute walk away from Sainsbury's but is located within the same square as the supermarket.

An angry householder in Bicester took to social media this week to share photos of the poorly maintained car park.

Carl Mortimore wrote: “Anyone else really fed up and embarrassed about the car park at Sainsbury’s?

“I know it’s been discussed before but having been there this afternoon I’m amazed at the state of the building, which is around 10-years-old.

“I think it’s time pressure was applied to the landlords or council to start getting to grips with the obvious antisocial behaviour ruining that area of town.

Oxford Mail:

“As well as the pictures it should also be noted that both lifts were also out of order.”

A spokesman for Cherwell District Council (CDC) said: “CDC has no responsibility for the upkeep of the car park at Sainsbury’s.

“But we are sending an environmental health officer this week to assess the situation.”

Sainsbury’s has been contacted for comment.
