The flavours of the Caribbean will be lighting up tastebuds across Banbury and beyond thanks to the opening of a new street food vendor at Lock29.

D'Moodz Caribbean Cuisine will be serving authentic Jamaican food and the owner, Tavon Joseph, is promising “Jaw dropping flavour, full of different spices.”

The menu will include firm favourites chickpea curry, fried chicken, curry goat, jerk chicken and fried fish.

These will be served with boiled rice or rice and peas, steamed vegetables or salad.

Mr Joseph was previously located in Oxford working with Spiced Roots based in the city but having relocated to Banbury an opportunity to set up his own business presented itself.

He said: “Having moved to the town I discovered the exciting things taking place here. “There’s a vibrant food scene and I feel my business will be an excellent addition for Banbury.”

D’Moodz Caribbean Cuisine joins several other street food vendors at Lock29, all small, independent businesses bringing something totally different to the town.

Located within the Castle Quay shopping centre, at Lock29 you’ll find authentic Greek, Mexican and Southeast Asian street food as well as pizzas, smashed burgers and chicken burgers.

There are also crepes, waffles, bubble tea and ice cream as well as sweet and savoury favourites originating from closer to home – homemade scones, sausage rolls, plus cakes and traybakes.

It’s a community Mr Joseph is looking forward to being part of. He added: “I can’t wait to open. Being part of a food orientated working community, that support network and the ambience of Lock 29, it’s exciting.”
