A MASKED attacker wielding a baseball bat assaulted a man as he answered his front door.
The attacker, wearing a light-coloured hooded top and balaclava, knocked on the door of a house in Hillwerke, in Chinnor shortly before midnight on Friday, police said today.
When the door opened he hit the man several times on the head leaving him with cuts and bruises.
The homeowner was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Buckinghamshire.
PC Clive Greenwood said: "The man was taken to hospital with severe bruising, deeply shaken and distressed.
"We think he was hit with a baseball bat. I would ask anyone who witnessed this completely unprovoked assault to get in touch."
