A sword-owning drug dealer scrawled ‘kill you’ in blood across his police cell, a court heard.

Callum Jarvis, described as ‘immature’ by his own barrister, was not present at Oxford Crown Court to hear the judge announce his jail sentence of three years, six months and 14 days – having walked from the dock back to the cells part-way through Judge Michael Gledhill KC’s sentencing remarks.

Before the 23-year-old stormed out of court, Judge Gledhill managed to tell the defendant that he was ‘not having a conversation’ with him and it was ‘no good looking surly.'

Noting that Jarvis had been described by his brief as immature, the judge said: “You are not only immature but you are actively making it worse for yourself.”

After lunch, he returned to court to apologise for his earlier behaviour. His apology was accepted by the judge.

Prosecuting, Cathy Olliver said the defendant was initially arrested on July 23, 2021. When police raided a house in Banbury, they found Jarvis together with two women.

Candidly, he told the officers they would find 59 wraps of ‘white and dark’ – crack cocaine and heroin – on a table in his flat.

True to his word they did, with the value of the drugs estimated to be worth £1,100 on the street. A phone message, found on his mobile and asking ‘where you shotting from?,' was said to have been a customer asking where the drugs were being sold.

On October 13 last year, he was arrested at home for ‘unrelated matters’ - and two wraps of drugs were found by officers.

Taken to the police station, Jarvis punched a Perspex screen then smeared blood all over his cell –writing the words ‘kill you’ on the cell walls.

The following month, on November 10, he was arrested in Banbury after police officers saw him palming drugs to a known user.

He was seen putting something in his mouth when the officers confronted him. A CT scan at hospital showed ‘something’ in his stomach. He was taken back to the police station, where he eventually defecated six wraps of heroin and four of crack cocaine.

Ms Olliver said police found two swords at the drug dealer’s home in Middleton Road. Only one had a blade over 50cm long, making it illegal to possess in a private place.

Jarvis, formerly of Middleton Road, Banbury, pleaded guilty at earlier hearings to supplying class A drugs, possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, and personal possession of drugs.

Mitigating, Peter du Feu said his client was ‘unusually immature for his age’, which was ‘perhaps not a surprise’. His childhood had been difficult. His father had just ‘emerged from a very lengthy sentence’, the court heard.
