PETROL prices are the cheapest they have been since Russia first invaded Ukraine in February last year.

Prices across Oxfordshire have now reached lows of 143p per litre. During the summer, prices reached highs of 191p per litre.

Wantage has the lowest recorded price of the county at 142.9p per litre with prices in Didcot and Banbury not far behind.

Prices nationally are an average of 150p per litre. The AA has said that the fall in price has been ‘a huge relief for drivers’.

Diesel, while not falling at the same rate, has still dropped by 27p from the summer, to an average of 172.2p per litre.

Prices sharply rose during 2022 in part due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine but also due to wider cost of driver issues.
