A hotel is offering a luxury escape to help people get away from the ‘Monday blues’.

Blue Monday rolls around every year on the third Monday in January, meaning Monday 16 is officially the saddest day of the year, according to reports.

For the second year running, voco Oxford Thames hotel is helping the people of Oxford banish those blues by offering an escape to its Sandford-on-Thames hotel on a weekend of their choice.

People are invited to nominate themselves for the stay, explaining why they deserve the chance to enjoy a deluxe room worth £500, in the historic grandeur of the College Hall.

The stay will also include a complimentary dinner in Napiers where the menu is full of seasonal dishes made from local produce.

Wendy Procter, cluster general manager, said: “This year more than ever, amidst a cost-of-living crisis, we want to switch blue Monday into a happy Monday.

“We would love to help our locals escape the January blues for just one night, so we were determined to run our offer again.”

The lucky winner can be joined by a person of their choice and enjoy breakfast the next morning at the hotel, with riverside views straight from the hotel’s door into the heart of Oxford City Centre.

People are invited to nominate themselves by emailing Wendy.Procter@ihg.com by January 16, 2023, explaining why they deserve the night away, in no more than 200 words.

The winning nomination will be chosen at random by the hotel team.
