A PUB near Banbury has temporarily closed due to the cost-of-living crisis.
Saye and Sele Arms, in Broughton, announced earlier this week that the venue would be shut temporarily due to the ‘ever increasing energy costs’.
Announcing the closure on Facebook, owners of the pub said: “A big thank you to those of you who joined us for the New Year's Eve celebrations, it was great fun and a marvellous evening.

“Unfortunately, we have now closed the pub temporarily, as, due to the ever-increasing energy costs, suppliers costs, etc combined with the traditional downturn in business post-Christmas, dry January etc it is not even viable to open the doors right now.
“We will now re-evaluate our business model and make a decision as to the viability going forward of continuing to try and make the business work.”
People were saddened to hear the news and hope for the pub to reopen when it is viable to do so.
Councillor Sean Woodcock, who represents Banbury Ruscote on Cherwell District Council, pleaded for people to support local businesses following the closure announcement.

On Twitter, he said: “Saye and Sele Arms, the only pub in the village of Broughton, near Banbury, shutting its doors for the quiet spell until Spring because of rising costs.
“Please support local businesses that need it. Before they go. For good.”
