Torrential downpours held off for Oxford's fifth interfaith walk as the skies cleared minutes before hundreds of walkers set off across the city.
An estimated 800 Christians, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus and Buddhists took to the streets on Tuesday to mark friendship and understanding between the city's faith groups - and those of no faith.
Imam Monawar Hussain, of Oxford Central Mosque in Manzil Way, said: "It was fantastic. We were so worried about the rain but I think there was divine intervention because the rain stopped at 6pm and the walk kicked off about 15 minutes later."
The walk started at the Oxford Synagogue in Jericho, then moved on to St Mary the Virgin Church, High Street, before finishing at the mosque, with prayers said at each location.
Among those supporting the walk were the Bishop of Oxford, the Rt Rev John Pritchard, Bishop of Oxford, pictured left, Rabbi Norman Solomon, Imam Munir Chisti, Ven Abhipanya, Davinda Singh, and Chinta Kallie, representing all six of the major faith groups. Also taking part were civic representatives including Oxfordshire's Lord Lieutenant Hugo Brunner and Oxford Lord Mayor Susanna Pressel, centre right.
She said: "I really enjoyed it and the atmosphere was so friendly and caring."
