A HOME care service provider has teamed up with other organisations to deliver hampers to older people who may not receive a present this Christmas.

Home Instead Maidenhead, Henley and Wallingford have been working as ‘hard as Santa’s elves’ putting together 100 hampers filled with treats such as jams, teas, chocolates, cake and an activity book.

Home Instead was joined by other local organisations helping to collate the hampers, including The David Brownlow Charitable Foundation, Twyford Together, Timefinders, RG10 Magazine, and Sheeplands Garden Centre, all of which are as keen to provide something for older people to enjoy.

The hampers have been delivered to members of Twyford Age Concern.

Home Instead also wants to thank children at Colleton School who coloured in Christmas cards that were also in the hampers.

Melissa Johnson, director of Home Instead Maidenhead, Henley and Wallingford, said: “As a home care company, we’re all too aware of the loneliness epidemic that is rife amongst older people.

“There’s no better time than Christmas to make a gesture that shows that the community is thinking of them. Distributing these hampers for the third year in a row, we hope that we have made many older people across the area smile.

“It’s key that we keep this community spirit going throughout the year. Checking on your older relatives, friends and neighbours goes a long way, and it’s what makes a caring community.”
