A stab victim who suffered a collapsed lung, internal bleeding and wounds to his arm - losing about four pints of blood - told a jury how he pleaded for mercy as he lay on the ground.
Oxford Crown Court heard Simon Pratley, a sales executive for the Oxford Mail, was attacked in the front garden of his sister's house, in Norman Smith Road, Greater Leys, Oxford, in January.
Mr Pratley's former neighbour Anthony Bartlett, also of Norman Smith Road, denies wounding with intent.
His co-defendant and half-brother, Ronnie Charlett, 23, of Devereux Road, Oxford, admits the charge.
Mr Pratley said Bartlett punched him in the head, and as he turned to confront him, Charlett stabbed him in the back and he then took some blows to the arm from Bartlett's direction.
He said: "I tried to grab the knife. It was one which Ronnie Charlett was holding, it cut through my hand.
"I was pleading with Anthony Bartlett to stop stabbing me, at which point they told me they were going to ****ing kill me and go into my mum's house to attack her."
Cross-examined, he agreed he saw only Charlett carrying a knife.
David Bright, prosecuting, said the three argued earlier the same evening but did not say what the dispute was about.
The trial continues.
