Householders can pick up a free roll of food waste caddy liners to help deal with extra food waste over Christmas.

The free liners are available from all Oxfordshire libraries and at Welch Way Town Centre Shop, Witney, during December while stocks last.

Customers of the Home Library Service will be offered a roll with their book delivery.

Councillor Pete Sudbury, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Environment, said "the best thing people can do – especially during this cost of living crisis – is to minimise the amount of food that gets thrown away".

But he added giving away caddy liners would make it easier for residents at a time when food waste is likely to increase significantly.

Residents are reminded that Oxfordshire’s seven household waste and recycling centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.

They will be open on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve from 8am - 3pm.

Details of where to find HWRCs is available at oxfordshire.gov.uk/recyclingcentres.
