A YOUNG woman from Didcot has founded her own sustainable party décor business inspired by her large family.
Ciara Westhead founded Pico in February this year after being shocked at the lack of sustainable party products on the market.
The 24-year-old said: “Coming from a huge family with a total of 13 aunties and uncles and over 70 plus cousins, I have always loved a good party.

Having planned a few myself, I was shocked by the lack of quality, sustainable products on the market, and those claiming to be sustainable were far from it.
“It’s important to shop sustainably because occasions and celebrations are some of the best things in live and the most special moment we have together but we don’t want our party products to have a negative impact on the planet.”
The Brighton University graduate started the business from home while maintaining her full time job in sales for takeaway delivery business Just Eat.
“It was a lot of early mornings and late nights,” she said. “It’s difficult but I kept going and my products are now in 20 different shops and I want to push it to the next step.”

Miss Westhead has just released her Christmas range with products such as baubles and bunting all made by hand using solid oak word as opposed to veneer wood.
