A FORMER Love Island contestant has meet with the Queen Consort to talk about an international campaign to end violence against women.

Sharon Gaffka, who starred on the ITV dating show last year, was invited to Buckingham Palace to speak Camilla, Queen Consort as part of the United Nations Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women.

The campaign, which includes 16 days of activism, is a movement designed to create urgency in preventing and responding to violence against women and girls.

Miss Gaffka, who hails from Didcot, is well known for working with police and MP David Johnston to raise awareness of about drink spiking and campaigning for change from changing legislation to better sexual education in schools.

On her Instagram, Miss Gaffka said: “A young girl named Sharon, who grew up in a small town in South Oxfordshire.

“Born to first- and second-generation immigrants. Spent so much of her childhood and teenage years dreaming of being a part of something bigger than herself.

“Here she is, twenty-six years old, about to enter Buckingham Palace after being invited by the Queen Consort.

“Teenager Sharon would never have approached people, let alone the Home Secretary and senior MET officers.

“Demanding for a meeting to discuss how we can work together to provide better protection of vulnerable people.

“2022 was only the beginning of what I’m capable of, and 2023 is only going to bigger, better and stronger.”
