Mr Whittenbury has already tripled his original £100 target through his Just Giving page and hopes to raise as much as possible for those struggling with homelessness.
He wanted to raise the money due to having previously been homeless. Mr Whittenbury, who regularly embarks on hikes, treks, climbs and wild adventures, thought he would use his interests to help with the rising issue.
