The River Ray at Islip has been placed on the highest level of flooding alert.
The Environment Agency this afternoon placed the catchment area, between Shipton Lee and Islip, near Kidlington, on a Flood Warning.
That means flooding of property is expected and people are advised to prepare in case of evacuation and move valuables to safety.
Six other rivers in Oxfordshire are on a flood watch, including the River Thames at Sandford Lock in Sandford-on-Thames and at Little Wittenham, and the River Cherwell, Evenlode, Ock, Thame and Windrush.
Floodwatch means low level land may be flooded.
There are also reports that the A420 is shut at the Botley Road roundabout.
