Actor Richard Briers, who played Tom in the popular TV series The Good Life, was the judge at a children’s fancy dress party.
He not only handed prizes to the winners at Milton-under-Wychwood but gave £1 notes from his own pocket to others he thought deserved recognition.

Simon Hall, three, pictured right as Yellow Pages, won the three-five age group. Sharon Burgess, six, won the six-eight group as a flower basket.

And the Walton family - Meg, Clare, Henry and Thomas - won the nine-11 group as the Three Blind Mice and Farmer’s Wife.
The contest in 1979 was part of a fayre organised by Wychwood Playgroup Association.
