A disgruntled local has created a Twitter account to document the status of several trolleys which have been dumped in the River Windrush.
The Sainsburys trolleys are reported to have been sitting in the River Windrush in Witney for a number of weeks, despite locals reaching out to both the supermarket chain and West Oxfordshire District Council to have them removed.

The tongue-in-cheek account, aptly named @TrolleyWindrush, was created in response to the lack action by the organisations and has been documenting the on-going status of two waterlogged trolleys.

Reaching out to Sainsbury’s and the council again on Tuesday (November 15), the account wrote “can you guys get together and remove this blight? It's very embarrassing especially as we are now having more rain and it will certainly not help the flow of the river.
“One lady has suggested she retrieves them which could be quite dangerous”.
Other Witney residents have shared pictures of the trolleys on social media, as well as more sarcastic quips about the situation.
Dan Wymer posted a picture of a another trolley left on the side of path in Henry Box School Playing Fields.
“Stumbled across a relative of @TrolleyWindrush today. The @sainsburys Wild Trolley Breeding Programme appears to be going well in Witney,” he tweeted.

Following this, Colin Morris shared a picture of the trolleys outside Witney’s Sainsburys.
He jokingly said: “I could here the abandoned trolleys distant cries, waiting to be reunited with the rest on the family.”

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson told this newspaper: "We have measures in place to help keep our trolleys in our stores where they belong and we are sorry they haven't worked this time.
“We appreciate these trolleys being brought to our attention and are arranging for them to be collected as soon as possible."
West Oxfordshire District Council failed to respond to our request for comment.
