Police schools officers have been into secondary schools across Cherwell district encouraging conversations with students about the risks involved in carrying a knife.
The activity is part of Operation Sceptre - a national bi-annual campaign focusing on knife crime.
Starting on Monday November 9, police forces across the country have been working with partners in order to raise awareness of the dangers of carrying a bladed article in public.
A key part of this is education, said TVP Cherwell.
In an update on its Facebook page, the force wrote: "Our Cherwell & West schools officers will be attending secondary schools across the area delivering assemblies and openly encouraging discussions with the children about the risks involved for those tempted to carry a knife."
They urged anyone concerned that somebody they know is carrying a knife to report their concerns.
"That information you provide could save a life," they said.
