MORE FLOWERS and candles have appeared overnight near the spot where Alex Innes lost his life in the early hours of Sunday morning.

One handwritten note described 25-year-old Mr Innes as the most ‘kind-hearted guys’ the letter-writer had ever met. “You brought a smile to everyone’s face,” they said.

Another said: “You were one of the polite young men.”

One card described the Kidlington man as a ‘kind and funny soul’.

Alongside bunches of flowers, some had left candles and bottles of Corona lager beer. Tied to a lamppost was a grey electrical wire, tipped with orange Wago connectors and bent into the shape of a heart.

Mr Innes died in Walton Street at around 12.50am on Sunday. Thames Valley Police said he had been stabbed.

Detectives have arrested 10 people on suspicion of murder or assisting an offender. On Tuesday afternoon, magistrates dealt with applications to quiz a number of suspects for an extra 24 hours.
