Witney's firefighters took to the streets to get across the message on safety as part of the county fire and rescue service's 365 Alive campaign.

A team of 15 of the town's firefighters each ran a symbolic 365 metres carrying a life-size human dummy on Saturday, starting from the fire station, in Welch Way.

The relay passed through the Deer Park, Thorney Leys and Burwell estates and the town centre.

Crew manager Steve Cook said: "We thought this would be a fun way to raise awareness of 365 Alive and to meet as many people as possible out and about on the streets of Witney. We dished out a lot of 365 Alive pledge cards, with information on seat belts, smoke alarms and fire plans in the home."

The event also raised £210 for the Firefighters' Charity.
