Fire crews say it is 'highly unlikely' others would be 'as lucky' after woman crashes at 100mph into trees on the A34.

The incident happened at junction nine of the M40 at Wendlebury southbound near Bicester at about 1.30am on Tuesday (November 8).

The woman crashed the vehicle over the barrier at the side of the road and landed upside down.

She was uninjured but then proceeded to fail a roadside drug test for cannabis and was arrested.

Firefighters from Kidlington and Bicester, as well as crews from South Central Ambulance Service, managed to stabilise and gain access to the car to extricate the woman.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “[She] remarkably had incredibly minor injuries and was able to crawl out.

“Following the incident the individual failed a roadside drug test and was arrested.

“Don’t let this be you we have to work to cut out, it’s highly likely you and other road users would not be anywhere as lucky.”

In a statement made online, Thames Valley Police said: “It is only by sheer luck and modern car design that this driver is alive after a 100mph crash on A34 near Bicester.

“She was thankfully uninjured, but failed a roadside drugs test for Cannabis and was arrested. It’s not worth the risk, drug driving kills.”
