A YOUNG firefighter has had his first call out this weekend after a chimney caught fire near Bicester.

Firefighter Stickney started his career as a fire cadet for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and has since completed his basic training course last month.

His fire call out since officially joining the team was a chimney fire in Fritwell this weekend. Ff Stickney topped up the fire engine tank from a hydrant when dealing with the incident.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “This turned out to be Ff Stickney’s first shout since joining us recently and coming on the run at the weekend. Ff Stickney was a fire cadet at the station and completed his basic training course last month.

“Congratulations Ff Stickney, here’s to many more.”
