Google is today celebrating the life of singer Dusty Springfield, who lived in Oxfordshire prior to her death.

The search engine has dedicated its Google Doodle to the iconic singer who released her debut solo single I Only Want to Be with You on this day in 1963.

A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google's homepages intended to commemorate holidays, events, achievements, and notable historical figures.

The singer, who was well-known for her distinctive mezzo-soprano sound, lived in a five-bedroom house on the riverfront in Hurley, near Henley-on-Thames.

She died of breast cancer on March 2 1999 and her funeral was St Mary The Virgin Church in the town.

Fans from across the UK travelled to say goodbye to the star, with the funeral live streamed to the large crowd outside the church.

Pet Shop Boys singer Neil Tennant, Elvis Costello and her 1960s contemporary Lulu addressed the congregation

A heart-shaped bouquet from Elton John and flowers from Cilla Black were among tributes left at the church door.

Tom Jones and Rod Stewart also sent bouquets.
