FANS of the bestselling spy thriller Slough House series will have the opportunity to meet the author at an event in Abingdon.

Author Mick Herron will be at the town’s library in The Charter to promote his new short story ‘Standing by the Wall’ on November 10.

He will be holding a question and answer session and will spend some time talking about the bestselling Slough House series – adapted into the TV series Slow Horses.

Councillor Jenny Hannaby, Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet member for community services and safety, said: "Mick Herron is one of Britain’s most popular authors. I am delighted he is coming to Abingdon Library next month. 

“Abingdon Library regularly holds events like this with popular authors from across genres – keep an eye out for some of your favourites"

Commenting on his appearance at Abingdon Library, Mr Herron said: "I’ve been a user of the public library system my whole life and regard it as one of our great national institutions, enriching the lives of its users and, in dark times, providing a safe, warm place for those in need. Like the NHS, its value is incalculable.”

The event starts at 6pm. Tickets cost £2, including a complimentary glass of wine, and are available by contacting the library directly on 01235 520374.
