What on earth was the Highways Agency thinking about when it decided to send traffic diverted from the A34 through Marcham?
The village is well known as a bottleneck, where lorries have difficulty manoeuvering through the main street, particularly if two are passing at the same time.
Agency bosses appear to have forgotten that village demands for a bypass have been ignored for years.
The new diversion route through Abingdon isn't ideal, but at least it will be a better route than through long-suffering Marcham.
