Rail commuters in Oxfordshire will once again be impacted by strikes, with several unions set to take action this weekend.

The RMT, TSSA and Unite trades unions have announced industrial action at Network Rail and a number of train operators.

Industrial action will take place on Saturday (November 5), Monday (November 7) and Wednesday (November 9)

This means services will be severely disrupted from Saturday, November 5 up to and including Wednesday, November 9.

This is how Oxfordshire will be impacted by the strikes:

Chiltern

Saturday (November 5)

Strike Day - Limited services will be running between approximately 8am-5pm. 

The company has urged people to only travel if essential.

RMT INDUSTRIAL ACTION

Due to planned RMT industrial action on this date, a VERY LIMITED timetable will be in operation, structured as follows:

  • 1 train per hour Marylebone - stations to Oxford Parkway (and vice-versa).
  • 1 train per hour Marylebone - stations to Banbury (and vice versa).
  • 1 train per hour Marylebone - stations to Aylesbury (via High Wycombe, and vice-versa).
  • 1 train per hour Aylesbury Vale Parkway - stations to Amersham (and vice-versa).

In particular, please note the following:

  • There will be NO Chiltern Railways service North of Banbury, nor to/from Oxford.
  • Start of service will generally be between 08.00 and 09.00 (see below).
  • End of service will generally be between 16.00 and 17.00 (see below).

  •     0801 Aylesbury Vale Parkway to London Marylebone via High Wycombe
  •     0825 Bicester North to London Marylebone

  •     0938 Amersham to Aylesbury Vale Parkway

LAST TRAINS (SOUTHBOUND):

  •     1600 Aylesbury to Princes Risborough
  •     1608 Banbury to London Marylebone
  •     1630 Oxford Parkway to London Marylebone

An extremely limited service will operate. Services will start at 7.30am and all journeys must be completed before 6.30pm.

Rugby fans attending the Wales-New Zealand Autumn International at the Principality Stadium should not travel by train as there will be no services after the match.

A very limited service will run on the following routes between:

  • London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads
  • London Paddington and Cardiff Central
  • London Paddington and Oxford
  • Reading and Basingstoke
  • Oxford and Didcot Parkway
  • Cardiff Central and Westbury via Bristol Parkway
  • Bristol Temple Meads and Weston-super-Mare
  • Branch lines serving Windsor and Marlow

Monday (November 7)

An extremely limited service will operate. Services will start at 7.30am and all journeys must be completed before 6.30pm.

A very limited service will run on the following routes between:

  • London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads
  • London Paddington and Cardiff Central
  • London Paddington and Oxford

An extremely limited service will operate. Services will start at 7.30am and all journeys must be completed before 6.30pm.

  • London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads
  • London Paddington and Cardiff Central
  • London Paddington and Oxford
  • Reading and Basingstoke
  • Oxford and Didcot Parkway
  • Cardiff Central and Westbury via Bristol Parkway
  • Bristol Temple Meads and Weston-super-Mare
  • Branch lines serving Windsor, Marlow and Henley-on-Thames

CrossCountry

Friday 4 November: There will be service disruption across some of our routes. There will be no CrossCountry rail services operating between:

  • Cardiff Central - Birmingham New Street - Nottingham.
  • Leicester - Cambridge - Stansted Airport. Road transport will also be in operation on certain routes.

Saturday, November 5, Monday, November 7 and Wednesday, November 9: Network Rail have announced industrial action. There will be significant disruption to timetables, with limited services in operation.

Sunday, November 6, Tuesday, November 8 and Thursday, November 10: Normal timetables will be in operation with later start times.

Sunday, November 6: Avanti West Coast have announced industrial action.

  • There will be very limited Avanti West Coast services running across the network, expect disruption and plan ahead if travelling along affected routes. Your CrossCountry service may be busier than usual.

Wednesday 9 November: Timetables will be updated as soon as possible.
