Three local councillors will do battle for the right to be the potential successor to Boris Johnson in the Henley constituency.
The chosen Conservative candidates are the leader of South Oxfordshire District Council Ann Ducker, fellow councillor John Cotton and the Oxfordshire county councillor for Dorchester and Berinsfield, John Howell.
There was speculation the father of Mr Johnson, Devon-based Stanley Johnson, would be chosen to represent the South Oxfordshire constituency in an impending by-election, but the Conservatives have plumped for three local candidates instead.
No date has yet been set for the by-election sparked after Boris Johnson was elected mayor of London on May 1.
The Conservatives are set to defend a majority of 12,793 over the Lib Dems in Henley.
