Thames Valley Police have revealed the identity of a murder investigation victim,  after a man was found dead on Monday night (October 17).

Thames Valley Police received reports of the death at an assisted living complex in School Lane, Banbury at about 7.26pm.

The man was yesterday (October 21) formally identified as Barrie Davenport, aged 88.

A Home Office post-mortem took place on Wednesday (October 19) and the cause of death at present is unknown, pending further investigation.

Mr Davenport’s next of kin are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.

A 53-year-old woman from Northamptonshire, who was arrested on Tuesday (October 18) on suspicion of murder, has been released on police bail.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said Mr Davenport’s family do not wish to comment on the matter and asked for respect for their privacy during this time.
