Boat users have been put on alert after river levels rose across the county today.
The Environment Agency warned low-lying land and roads near the River Evenlode, River Ock, River Thame and River Windrush were at risk of flooding.
A 30ft-long canal boat broke free from its moorings and struck a bridge near Abingdon lock. It was pulled free by a tug at about 2.15pm.
David Southworth, 64, who is visiting Abingdon from Cambridgeshire, said: "It was going at about 8mph, it was quite a big lump coming past us but we couldn't stop it. A lady on a hire boat managed to get hold of a rope but she couldn't hold it, it probably weighed about 30 tonnes."
And customers at a riverside pub watched as a narrowboat became stuck while negotiating a historic bridge on the River Thames near Standlake. It blocked the arches at Newbridge for three hours.
The Environment Agency said river levels are higher than normal because of heavy rain in the past few days.
