Determined John Humphries has vowed to continue his search for fame - despite being laughed off The X-Factor for the fifth time.
The 53-year-old, known as Big John, failed to hit the right note with the show's producers at his latest audition on Monday with a rendition of Let's Twist Again.
Father-of-two Mr Humphries believes his energetic dancing, which he tried out for the first time this year, might have cost him a place in the final rounds of the TV show.
He said: "I couldn't really believe it. I was pretty gutted. I don't think the producer was very impressed with my dancing.
"I gave it my best - I really went in there and blasted it out at her.
"It was quite high-pitched. I was twisting in front of her and I went round and round and up and down."
Professional cleaner Mr Humphries, who recently moved to Ock Street, in Abingdon, after many years living in Blackbird Leys, found fame when he starred in reality television show The Singing Estate in 2006.
Mr Humphries, then of Sorrel Road, Blackbird Leys, was one of a group of singers from the Oxford estate who were turned into a fully-fledged classical choir by professional conductor Ivor Setterfield.
But his latest setback has failed to dampen his enthus- iasm. He said: "They did not say don't come back. I will definitely go back - I will ring up as soon as the lines open."
He became well-known after being booted off The X-Factor four times and starring in an spin-off featuring the best and worst auditions. Judges lifted a ban imposed on him by Simon Cowell after Mr Humphries sang with the choir at the Royal Albert Hall.
But grandfather-of-one Mr Humphries is refusing to give up on his search for fame. He will audition for new show, Search For A Star, in Blackpool this weekend - and has not given up on The X-Factor.
He said: "They have got my number. You never know, they might call back."
