A TRAFFIC police officer is accused of using force to arrest a man while he was off-duty and under the influence of alcohol.

PC Ricky Eagles, of Thames Valley Police’s roads policing unit, faces allegations he breached the force’s standards of  behaviour.

He will appear before a misconduct panel at police headquarters in Kidlington on November 16.

Thames Valley Police said the allegations concerned Mr Eagles’ actions on October 13 this year. He was said to have ‘placed himself on duty after consuming alcohol and used force while arresting a man’. No detail has been released about where the incident happened.

The force said that, if proven, the allegations would amount to gross misconduct for which dismissal would be justified.

The misconduct panel will consist of a legally-qualified chairman, barrister James Keeley, and two others.
