Thieves stole lead flashing from the roof of a house.
Thieves climbed onto the roof of the house in Coxwell Road, in Faringdon, between 4.30pm yesterday and 7.15am today.
Police believe as the thieves fled they have left some of the lead on the footpath that leads to Marlborough Gardens.
Pc Simon Jenkin from Faringdon police station said: "I would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area of Coxwell Road and Marlborough Gardens or anyone who has any information to come forward.
"Theft of lead is currently an increasing problem in the Faringdon and surrounding area.
"This type of theft does not only affect the victims but also the community as it can increase contents and buildings insurance premiums dramatically."
Anyone with information should contact police on 08458 505505 or speak anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
