Some of Britain's brightest up- and-coming classical music talent visited Oxford for a new festival showcasing the stars of tomorrow.
The event, Springboard, was held at the Jacqueline Du Pre Music Building, at St Hilda's College, in Cowley Place, on Saturday, and attracted dozens of music lovers.
Tamsyn Howell Sprent, artistic programme director of Music at Oxford, which organised the festival in conjunction with the Jacqueline Du Pre, said: "Bringing the best of young national talent straight to our Oxford audiences is a real treat, and the benefit to the artists in terms of their individual development as a performing musician is immeasurable. "
Hosting the event were the internationally-renowned musicians, pianist Melvyn Tan and violinist Levon Chilingirian, and during the day there were four recitals, featuring the Vardanyan String Quartet, pianist Dominic John, clarinettist James Meldrum, soprano Jane Sheldon and baritone William Berger, culminating in a grand concert in the evening.
Mr Tan said: "It was a pleasure to be involved in this project and to encourage more talented generations to participate and to perform to a wider audience."
As well as the music, there was a demonstration of violin-making.
Organisers hope the festival will become an annual event.
