Thousands of people made tracks to a modern railway event celebrating the anniversary of a train-enthusiasts association.

An estimated 1200 people turned up to Bicester Heritage over the weekend to marvel at the model trains and railways displayed by members of the Gauge One Model Railway Association (G1MRA) on its 75-year anniversary.

The event had been in planning for one-and-a-half-years, and sixty volunteers were enlisted to help with running it over Saturday and Sunday.

Robert Dean, Committee Member at G1MRA, said: “This level of turnout has never happened to the association before.

“This event was a really big deal, especially because a lot of the attendees were families, which we don’t typically see.

“It was our biggest event ever, and we couldn’t have done it without Bicester Heritage.”

the event was organised by Stuart Hithersay, Robert Dean, Liz Marsden, Phil Johnson, Terry Geeson and John Taylor.
