A TRAIN operator has issued ‘strong guidance’ to customers to only travel if ‘absolutely essential’ this weekend.

Chiltern Railways’ services will be impact on Saturday, October 8 due to strike action by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT). 

The operator has warned that there will be ‘extremely limited’ availability of staff and as such services will not be operating on some routes.

Due to the strike action, there will be no service north of Banbury on the Saturday.

There will also be later starts to services on Sunday, October 9 as the service still expects to have ‘significantly less’ staff to service and prepare the number of trains normally needed.

Customers are being urged to check their trains if they are travelling on these days and consider alternative methods of transport.

The following services will be impacted:

Saturday, October 8

  • Services will begin between 8am and 9am 
  • Services will finish much earlier than usual
  • No Chiltern Railways services north of Banbury
  • One train per hour Marylebone - stations to Oxford Parkway via Bicester Village
  • One train per hour Marylebone - stations to Banbury  
  • One train per hour Marylebone - stations to Aylesbury (via High Wycombe
  • One train per hour Aylesbury Vale Parkway - stations to Amersham

Sunday, October 9

  • Services will begin between 9am and 10am due to the displacement of trains
