Oxford United's football season might be over, but there will still be plenty going on at the Kassam Stadium this summer.

The U's will be throwing open their doors for their annual fun day on Saturday, July 5, which will be run in conjunction with the Oxford Mail.

Fans young and old will be able to take part in a range of activities, including watching United training sessions, seeing next season's new kit and touring the stadium. Players will be available for photos and autographs throughout the day.

United spokesman Chris Williams said: "The fun day, run in conjunction with our good friends at the Oxford Mail, has become a big hit with all of our supporters and this year's event promises to be the biggest and best yet.

"There will be lots going on - Oxford United juniors will be able to play on the hallowed pitch, with small sided games and coaching before getting the chance to play against the first team.

"All eyes will be on them to see if they can repeat last year's win in a game, which saw 300 of them take on the 11 players."

The first team players will then have a short training session before the club stages a giant game of bingo with the winner earning themselves a new home shirt.

"Full details will be announced in the build-up to the fun day, but right now we are keen to ensure people put the date in their diaries."

Last year, an estimated 4,000 people attended the open day. Other activities included the unveiling of this season's kit, the Oxford Mail bouncy castle and a visit from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
