England international Paul Hogan came from 3-0 and 4-1 down to pip Hertfordshire's Rob Wigg 5-4 to win the Oxfordshire Open Championship at the Lord Nuffield Club, Oxford.
o A former Lakeside World Championship quarter-finalist, Hogan trailed 3-0 as Wigg took two legs against the throw.
Hogan got himself back into the match by taking the fourth leg, but Wigg moved within one leg of victory by landing the fifth against the darts.
Hogan had to dig deep, pulling back one leg before a 100-plus check-out made it 4-3.
He easily won the next to level the match, and made the most of his first throw in the decider to take the £500 top prize.
Oxfordshire players Phil Addison and Roger Haines both reached the quarter-finals before bowing out In the ladies, competition, three Oxon throwers - Cath Birch, Julie Newman and Paulette Guy - made it to the semi-final stage, along with Bedfordshire's Diane Nash.
Newman beat Birch to reach the final against Nash, who disposed of Guy.
There were hopes of a home win when Newman took the first leg of the final, but Nash came back strongly to take the next three for the title.
Oxfordshire youth lost 11-6 to Essex on Sunday, but their under 18 boys and under 21 girls teams did enough to win their regional sections.
They now go forward to compete in the Champion of Champions Cup at Lakeside, Frimley Green, on July 13.
The under 18s suffered their first defeat of the season, going down 6-3 to an Essex side including two junior internationals.
Oxon's wins came from Shane Cooper, Mark Burns and Dean Lockyer, who had the top average of 20.04.
The under 21 girls won 2-1 thanks to Ashley Curtis and lady-of-the-match Nicola Slay (17.17).
Oxon's young under 21 men lost 4-1, with skipper Craig Inness securing their only win with an average of 23.96.
