LIBERAL Democrat councillor Tony de Vere has been elected the new leader of the Vale of the White Horse District Council following a group shake-up.
Mr de Vere, who represents the Abingdon, Abbey and Barton ward, takes over from colleague Jerry Patterson, who led the council for four years.
Mr Patterson will become deputy leader.
Alison Rooke was elected council chairman at last night's annual meeting with Terry Fraser her deputy.
