POLICE flooded Oxford with officers to target known hot-spots in a day of action against drugs.

Following a raid at Gibbs Crescent, about 25 officers were sent on foot patrol to disrupt drug-dealing.

Police carried out patrols in the city centre, Jericho, and along the Botley and Abingdon roads. Two men were arrested in Botley Road on suspicion of possession of class-A drugs, while a third was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen property.

A couple were arrested in the city centre on suspicion of drug dealing.

Police also carried out an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) operation in Oxpens targeting vehicles used by drug dealers.

Police spokesman Claire Gourlay said: "Foot patrols were working on intelligence to target known areas and disrupt the drug crime and drug supply. In areas where there are known problems police carried out a number of stop-and-searches."
